Our Story & The History of Byron Bay Longboards

Hey everyone!

So, here's a little story about how our family dove headfirst into the wild world of owning a surf brand. It all started back in 2016 when Aaron, fueled by pure passion (and maybe a touch of madness), decided to snag an old CNC cutting machine. Spoiler alert: we definitely couldn't afford it at the time, but hey, when the waves call, you answer, right?

You see, Aaron's been riding waves since he was knee-high, following in the footsteps (or should we say, surf tracks?) of his old man. Surfing wasn't just a hobby for him; it was practically written in the stars. Mornings and afternoons spent on the water, school days lost in daydreams of endless barrels – you get the picture.

Now, let's fast forward a bit. We had some seriously steep learning curves at the beginning (shoutout to our amazing mentors for keeping us afloat!), and for the next eight years, we were cranking out Surf Club boards like nobody's business.

But then, 2020 happened. Covid hit, and Byron Bay Longboards – a local legend – was on the brink of disappearing into the abyss. Aaron couldn't bear the thought of that legacy vanishing, so he did what any surf-crazy, passionate dude would do: he dove in headfirst. While we were busy patching up dings in our repair factory, Aaron saw an opportunity to keep the dream alive.

And you know what? Along the way, he had this beautiful vision of creating a space for our neurodivergent kids in the workforce. He wanted to build a family business where they could roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty in an industry that we all adore.

Fast forward to today: our son Oskar's right there with us, crafting some killer apparel to sling at our family stall in the local markets. He's even getting the hang of running this fancy website of ours – talk about a true family affair!

Every penny we make goes right back into the biz, but hey, it's more than just a job for us. Byron Bay Longboards? She's our baby, our pride and joy. And we're all in this together, injecting new life into her and bringing back that legendary status she deserves.

So, there you have it – our little slice of surf paradise, filled with passion, purpose, and a whole lot of stoke.
